When we were getting married we were urgently looking for an original alternative for the traditional wedding registries at department stores. We had lived together for a couple of years and already ‘had everything’. We didn’t need more china, silver or household appliances.
To prevent wedding guests coming with sweet, but un-useful presents, we decided we should give them a hint. We love travelling and would be most happy with a donation to our honeymoon. But nobody really likes to give money….
We found an American company that offered the opportunity to register our honeymoon. In this way, our guests could give us our desired honeymoon! As you can imagine, we were instantly enthusiastic.
We ended up not doing it. It appeared to be too complicated to direct our guests to an American company. A website in English, paying in US dollars, time difference, language difference and high phone costs for people who wanted to order a present by phone were problems we could not overcome.
Since the concept did not exist in Holland yet and we were absolutely sure more couples would find themselves in the same situation as we did, I decided to bring the concept over to the Netherlands. I truly hope that with Honeymoon2Give, you will find the registry service you were looking for!
